Kristin Leal, author of MetaAnatomy: A Modern Yogi’s Practical Guide to the Physical and Energetic Anatomy of Your Amazing Body, is returning to Tamara Yoga! Kristin is an international yoga teacher and world-renowned anatomy and physiology expert. We received such beautiful feedback from her MetaAnatomy of the Nervous System training last year that we’re delighted to bring you this MetaAnatomy ESSENTIALS Training: An exploration of the major muscles, joint structures and energetic maps of the body.

Are you ready to dive deep into the⁠ ESSENTIALS that every Yoga teacher and student needs to know? Then this training is for you! It is NOT about memorising facts and figures, but rather learning a holistic approach to the magnificent body that will have an immediate effect on you and your students!⁠⁠

Throughout this training you will explore the detail and nuance of the major muscle and joint structures, equipping you with a high-level, in-depth understanding of the different regions of the body. This training is for Yoga teachers, practitioners and anyone who wants to learn more about the beauty and uniqueness of the human body, from both physical and energetic perspectives, to move in safe and embodied ways.

Each day we’ll explore a different region of the body through in-depth lecture, experiential exercises and workshopping, as well as a full and fulfilling practice implementing the concepts discussed. You’ll gain a greater understanding of your unique body as well as individual differences so you can tailor postures and practices to the needs of yourself and your students.

Things you can look forward to in this training:
  • An in-depth, holistic understanding of the essential regions of the body that every Yoga teacher and student needs to know to ensure they can practice in a safe, embodied way.
  • You’ll develop X-ray vision! Looking inside the body, we will explore immediately accessible techniques to discover what is bony compression (that ain’t moving) or muscular tension (eventually might be moveable).
  • Learn why no two bodies will ever experience the same yoga posture in the same way.
  • Review common injuries and ways to work with all bodies in a way that is meaningful and safe.
  • Refine your language and verbal cues to become a more thoughtful, accessible and skillful teacher.
  • Explore the Five Prana Vayus and experience a meditation dedicated to each Vayu to bring balance to your inner flow.
  • 5 therapeutic asana classes that weave together the physical structures and their energetic correlation using intelligent movement, breath and meditation.
  • Plus, Kristin will share with you the Asana practice that completely changed her life and teaching (true story!).
Join us for the whole five-day, 25-hour comprehensive (and fun!) course or drop in for individual days. We have flexible booking options to suit you. The entire training will be offered both in-person and online, so you get to choose when and how you attend! If you book for the whole 5 days, you’ll also receive a recording of the training.

Yogaroma Online Course

Join Tamara Yoga teacher, Physiotherapist and Essential Oils Expert, Kat Hood, for our YogAroma Online Course.

YogAroma is a beautiful practice that pairs yoga with the therapeutic and energetic properties of essential oils. It is an immersive, sensory experience.

Throughout this course, you’ll explore different styles of yoga including vinyasa, yin and restorative yoga. Each class will engage two complementary essential oils which will allow you to discover the physical and emotional properties of the oils.

You’ll learn how to incorporate essential oils into your own practice and be empowered to choose different oils depending on what you need at any given time.

This course is for you if:

  • You want make it to be prioritising your yoga practice but you’re struggling with motivation.
  • You want to get out of your head and into your body but you find it hard to stay present, worrying about what’s coming next or if you’re doing it right.
  • You want to elevate your yoga practice beyond the purely physical but you’re not quite sure how.

It’s time to get unstuck and access all states of your being with YogAroma.

Using aromatherapy in your yoga practice gives you a deeper release, helps you let go of the things you’re not meant to hold onto, leads you to a space of stillness and brings you back to your truest self.


In your YogAroma Online Course:

  • YogAroma classes will be paired with two oils from one of Doterra’s foundational oil kits.
  • YogAroma classes will take you on an exploration of the emotional, physical and energetic properties of each oil and how they can complement your yoga practice.
  • YogAroma classes include a variety of asana and pranayama practices to complement the properties of the different oils.

Class 1: The Morning Flow 

This vinyasa class uses energising Peppermint and Lemon essential oils to wake up your physical body, your breath and mind to prepare you for the day. 

Class 2: Resilience and protection

This vinyasa class focuses on cultivating energy and creating boundaries. It is perfect for those who feel as though they give their energy away unnecessarily. Practice cultivating strength and resilience; and practice sharing your energy in ways that support, rather than deplete you. This class is paired with the Doterra blend ‘On Guard’ and tea tree oil.

Class 3: Heated and Heart Opened

This abdominal and chest opening class focuses on the third and fourth chakras, using abdominal work and twists to build heat, and chest opening postures to create space in the heart. A practice in building fire and then softening and releasing. This class is paired with Doterra’s blends ZenGest and Easy Air. 

Class 4: Expand and soften

This class explores inversions and some gentle heat building postures; followed by longer held yin postures to stretch and soften the muscles and fascia. Energetically this class will help us open and expand into new perspectives; and then invite us to settle with softness into the spaciousness that we have created. This class is paired with Eucalyptus oil and Doterra’s ‘Balance’ blend.

Class 5: Rebalance

This class is a slower paced chakra balancing class, with a combination of yin and restorative postures to slowly move the body into a relaxed state of stillness. A longer pranayama and meditation practice, this class is paired with Lavender and Frankincense essential oils – a wonderful combination to nourish the nervous system and open you to higher states of consciousness.

Our Beginners Yoga course progresses from week to week starting at the very beginning. You’ll learn the fundamentals of Tamara Yoga Vinyasa practice which means you’ll  increase your strength, endurance and flexibility. You’ll improve your posture, sleep, immunity and digestion. Trauma Informed Yoga Course

Trauma is stored in the body. After a traumatic experience, the nervous system can respond to triggering situations as though the traumatic experience is happening all over again. This can lead to a sense of disconnection from the body in order to cope. Yoga can offer a potent way to befriend, and regain a sense of safety in, your body. Yoga offers an empowering path towards healing; it can help you reclaim a sense of steadiness and ease.

Our 5-week Trauma Informed Yoga course invites participants to learn skills including mindfulness and meditation, the use of breath in regulating autonomic arousal, body awareness, distress tolerance and insight. It will support participants with a history of trauma and/or symptoms of anxiety, depression, grief, to experience a sense of agency and control over their bodies. A useful adjunct to individual psychotherapy, this course is informed by the internationally recognised best practice principles of Trauma Centre Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY).

Facilitated by clinical psychologists Chloe Thornton-Hick and Deliah Cassidy, who both have experience in supporting clients with a history of trauma across both the private and public sector, these small classes will have a maximum of 10 participants and offer a safe, supportive space for participants to develop psychological skills whilst practicing yoga. Participants in our Trauma Informed Yoga course will not be expected to discuss their histories and those under a GP Mental Health Care are able to claim a Medicare rebate.

At Tamara Yoga, our children’s yoga course helps your child discover ways to improve their ability to relax and concentrate. Tamara Yoga for children is a fun, playful, creative and invigorating way to help your child develop balance, posture, coordination and concentration. Your child will learn easy techniques to help them be calm and mindful.

A recent study of children from age 9 to 13 divided into two groups, one that received yoga classes while the other group didn’t. Men Only Beginners Yoga Course

Our Men’s Beginners Yoga Course is specifically designed for men who are new to yoga. The course caters for all ages and body types, and will provide a non-competitive environment for you to be more at ease to explore the benefits of yoga than perhaps you might in a mixed-gender or mixed level class.

You’ll learn the fundamentals of Tamara Yoga Vinyasa practice and receive individualised instruction in basic yoga sequences that develop your strength and flexibility, as well as mindfulness techniques to help you relax and let go of stress.
