EVIDENCE BASED YOGA THERAPY CLASS OFFERED ON A 1-TO-1 BOOK IN ADVANCE BASIS
Tamara Yoga offers specialized yoga therapy classes specifically helpful for those suffering or recovering from conditions relating to cancer or heart disease.
These classes are taught by Tamara Yoga teacher Anne Hesford who has undertaken further postgraduate yoga therapy teacher training with Nischala Joy Devi- former director of the Dr Dean Ornish Programme for Stress Management. Decades of scientifically reliable research indicate that lifestyle changes that include yoga and relaxation techniques can actually halt the progression of, and even reverse heart disease. Research indicates a programme of yoga, meditation and deep relaxation can have a profound effect on alleviating fear, anxiety, loneliness and depression that may accompany a diagnosis of cancer or heart disease.
Absolutely no prior experience of yoga is required.
"I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in November 2010 and was very quickly booked in for a double mastectomy the next month. To say that I was scared is an understatement. I had watched my beautiful Mother die from this hideous disease and here I was only 42 faced with fighting it myself. Annie rang me when she found out and gently asked me if I would like to come and do some yoga with her, just the two of us. Now, I have tried yoga before and thought it really wasn’t my thing but I went along anyway with the mind set that anything might help at this stage. And help it certainly did! Annie taught me how to breathe and help all of the tension and worries that were engulfing my body slowly release. I stretched and cried and listened to Annie’s soothing voice telling me to let go of all of my worries. I went into my operation very positive and at times when I felt overwhelmed I would remember how Annie had taught me to breathe and I would immediately feel so much better. I firmly believe that if I had not done those sessions with Annie I would not have been as calm as I was. Thankyou Annie!" __Melissa Del Popolo
